Lebanon facing up to its problems
If we wish to face the multitude of problems that confront us presently in Lebanon, our best bet would be to proceed as follows:
Step One: Let us start by reaching a consensus, among all the parties in Lebanon, about the matter of our public Debt including how and when we intend repaying it, the proposed repayment schedule, and an attempt to convince the bond holders to agree to a two per cent reduction in the current rate of the service of this debt.
Step Two: Let all the parties in Lebanon agree upon the necessity to draw up a comprehensive Lebanese National Development Plan (L.N.D.P.) to cover the next four years. For additional details please view our previous blog at http://www.a-planned-development.blogspot.com
Step Three: The Plan that we intend building will cover eighteen main sectors and will identify the solutions to some one thousand different problems in all these sectors. The Plans for seven of these sectors exist already. The study of the plans for the remaining eleven sectors is in progress and is expected to be completed within six months.
